I always get questions about working in Japan without a degree; as in, whether or not it is possible to get work in Japan if you have not graduated University. I work at a variety of jobs to support my school studies, and this is one of the most exciting groups I have. These ladies are all retired, but they love English so much. Some have only started studying as recently as two years ago, and the oldest class member is 74 years old.
My friend BobbyJudo and I had talked about trying an “English Cooking Class” for a while, and when I asked if the class was interested, they were so excited, they even offered to let us take over their house and kitchen.
They loved him. 🙂
Usually we teach at the community centre, in the city, as it’s easy to rent a room there. Each student pays 6000en a month for 4 classes a month, but we pitched in a little extra in order to bring in Bobby Judo.
All in all, it was a success. Everyone had fun asking Bobby questions about his personal life (of course, those clips don’t make it in the video), and trying some non-traditional recipes.
I will be making a video soon, addressing the questions about work in Japan, but I think this video just goes to show that you are only limited by your own creativity and talent. I definitely foresee something like, “Bobby Judo’s Cooking School” becoming a success in the future. 😉
